BiographyCheryl Verbree (formerly Essenburg) graduated from Calvin College in 1995 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree, majoring in geology and minoring in chemistry. After obtaining a Master’s Degree in geology from The Ohio State University, Cheryl joined the Peace Corps, and in 1997-1998 taught fish farming methods to rural subsistence farmers in Zambia. Upon returning to the States, Cheryl worked in Grand Rapids, Michigan at an environmental consulting firm for over three years. In 2002, she returned to Calvin for her teaching certificate and is certified in the State of Michigan to teach earth science and chemistry at the secondary level (grades 7-12). Cheryl has taught geology at Calvin College as well as several of the course’s labs. She is currently pursuing her PhD? in Soil Science at Texas A&M University. | |
